Adventure Guest Experience — Brainstorm

Date: 2026-03-08 Status: Ready for implementation

What We’re Building

A magazine-style, editorial guest experience page that replaces the chat-first concierge. When a guest opens their unique link, they see a beautiful, full-bleed editorial layout showcasing Queenstown activities the couple has personally curated. Each activity card features the couple’s personal note about why they love it. Guests browse and add activities to a “My Trip” itinerary board (stored in localStorage).

The chat concierge still exists but becomes secondary — a floating action button for questions, not the primary interface.

Core philosophy: The couple designs the wedding AND the guest adventure around it. The guest experience should feel like a custom travel magazine the couple made for their friends, not a booking form.

Why This Approach

  • Magazine style over trip-planner grid because it’s more editorial, more emotional, more “couple’s love letter to Queenstown”
  • Couple quotes on every card make it feel personal, not like a tourism brochure
  • Visual itinerary board (sticky bottom bar) gives guests agency to plan their own trip
  • 10-12 curated activities — enough variety, not overwhelming
  • Static demo — all client-side with localStorage, no backend needed

Key Decisions

  1. Layout: Full-bleed photos, editorial magazine style. Activity cards are mini feature stories.
  2. Couple’s voice: Every activity has a personal quote from Mia or Jack.
  3. Interactivity: “Add to My Trip” → sticky bottom bar → expandable itinerary view with day assignment.
  4. Activity count: Expand from 8 to ~12 (add paragliding, canyon swing, Skyline luge, spa).
  5. Chat: Demoted to floating action button. Still available, just not the hero.
  6. Page structure: Wedding day timeline at top → activity categories → activity cards → My Trip bar at bottom.
  7. Categories: Adrenaline, Outdoors, Food & Wine, Relax — filter pills above the grid.

Open Questions

  • Photo sourcing: We don’t have real photos. Use Unsplash placeholders or gradient/color blocks?
  • Should the “My Trip” state persist across sessions (localStorage) or be ephemeral?
    • Decision: localStorage — guests come back to their picks.

Build it. Replace the current chat-first /guest/[token] page with this editorial experience.
