Aaron’s Week 1-2 Action Checklist

Priority-ordered. Items marked with time estimates. Do the blockers first.


Week 1: The Blockers

Monday-Tuesday (Evening Sessions)

  • BC Parks permit application — START NOW (2 hours)

    • 140-day processing. Every day you wait is a day later the permit arrives.
    • Step 1: Get insurance quotes (email Zensurance, Apollo, Front Row, Park Insurance)
    • Need: $5M CGL with Province of BC as additional insured

  • Register BC business entity (1 hour)

    • BC sole proprietorship: $40 at bcregistry.gov.bc.ca
    • Or incorporate: ~$350 (recommended for liability protection)
    • District of Squamish home-based business license: $130/yr (604-815-5014)

Wednesday-Thursday (Evening Sessions)

  • Email Jude Douglass — Sea to Sky Officiant (30 min)

    • About interim officiant partnership while Lana gets licensed
    • Use template from docs/adventure-weddings/templates/vendor-outreach-emails.md (partnership section)

  • Set up Google Business Profile (1.5 hours)

    • Follow checklist in docs/adventure-weddings/guides/google-business-profile-setup.md
    • Business name: Adventure Weddings
    • Primary category: Wedding photographer
    • Service area: Squamish, Whistler, Sea to Sky, Vancouver
    • Upload 5-10 Squamish landscape photos from your phone/camera roll

Friday Evening

  • Review and sign up for Dubsado CRM (1 hour)
    • dubsado.com — Essentials plan ~$36 USD/month
    • Just create the account and explore; full setup with Lana in Week 2

Weekend (Saturday or Sunday — pick one, 3-4 hours)

  • First location scout (3-4 hours)
    • Hit Shannon Falls + Nexen Beach + Smoke Bluffs (all within 10 min of each other)
    • Bring phone/camera. Shoot:
      • Ceremony spots (where couple would stand)
      • Approach (trailhead, parking, path)
      • Light direction (note what time and where the sun is)
      • Any hazards or accessibility issues
    • Start building route card notes (template in findings/14-route-card-template.md)

Week 2: Building Foundations

Monday-Tuesday (Evening Sessions)

  • Follow up on insurance quotes (30 min)

    • Compare options. Need: $5M CGL, Province of BC as additional insured
    • Bind the policy as soon as you have a good quote
  • Submit BC Parks permit application via FrontCounter BC (1.5 hours)

    • Once insurance is bound, you have everything needed
    • Apply for multi-park permit covering all 7 target parks
    • See step-by-step guide
  • Set up Dubsado with Lana (1 hour video call in overlap window)

    • Create inquiry auto-response workflow
    • Set up basic client pipeline: Inquiry → Discovery Call → Proposal → Booked
    • Add pricing guide PDF (create a simple one-page from the financial summary)

Wednesday-Thursday (Evening Sessions)

  • Contact Natacha Trottier (30 min)

    • HMUA + officiant — potential styled shoot collaborator
    • Use template from vendor outreach emails doc

  • Contact 1-2 florists (30 min)

    • The Wild Florists (thewildflorists.ca) — use local Squamish flowers
    • Flower Factory Squamish
    • Pitch: styled shoot collaboration (trade for portfolio images)
  • Email BC Vital Statistics (30 min)

    • Contact VSRELREG@gov.bc.ca or call 250-952-2681
    • Ask about Lana’s situation: NZ citizen, visiting seasonally via IEC visa
    • Specifically ask about Section 3(2) temporary registration provision
    • Ask whether CIMM accepts non-permanent-resident registrants

Friday Evening

  • Review the 3 blog posts that were written tonight (30 min)

  • Second location scout (3-4 hours)
    • Hit Porteau Cove + Brohm Lake + Brandywine Falls
    • Same documentation approach as Week 1
    • Start creating GPS waypoints in Gaia GPS
